A flexible film acts as a gate. In the closed position, the membrane completely covers the channel. If the air flow is in the desired direction, the petals under its pressure bend back and do not obstruct the passage, for this is enough even a weak air flow occurring in natural ventilation. However, if the direction of flow changes (reverse draft effect), the membrane presses tightly against the grille behind it and securely closes the duct.
